Brembo donates 1 million Euros to put a stop to COVID-19
Brembos can stop the fastest bikes, but can they stop this pandemic?

Brembo, one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance braking systems for major motorcycles such as Ducati and MV Agusta, has committed to donating €1 million to be used to help in the fight against the COVID-19 virus.
Italy is one of the hardest-hit countries in the EU region registering 170,000 confirmed cases and 23,600 deaths and those numbers are still climbing. Brembo’s headquarters is located in Bergamo City, northern Italy, just a couple of miles away from Milan, within the Lombardy region, one of the hardest-hit areas by the COVID-19 pandemic. The region spans 10,000 square miles with a population of about 10 million people with Italy’s most populated city, Milan.

Brembo has pledged to donate its money to be used for research and development of a solution to fight the virus to three major medical facilities located within the region. The medical facilities, the Fondazione per la Ricerca Ospedale di Bergamo (FROM) foundation, the Papa Giovanni XXVII Hospital, and the Mario Negri Institute will combine clinical and pharmacological research with the help of Brembo’s donation. Giuseppe Remuzzi, Director of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research emphasized, “At the present time it is vitally important to understand the mechanisms of the action of the virus within an organism. Thanks to the generous donation received from Brembo, we are convinced that progress will soon be made, in terms of identifying the damages caused by the virus, thus reducing the number of patients needing intensive care.”
Meanwhile, Alberto Bombassei, president of Brembo stressed the importance of research to find a solution to the problems brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasizes their experience of conducting research in their line of business.
After an initial donation to a nursing home at the Bergamo hospital, we needed to do our own research to find a drug for COVID-19 as soon as possible, Research is also the art in which we see ourselves as a company. We believe that it is the payment method to find a future solution to this important situation. Research is our way of doing business, and we believe that it may be the only possible route to finding an effective solution to such a difficult situation like this.
Deeply affected by the sufferings brought about within their region, Brembo gives their share in being one step closer to the development of a possible drug or vaccine that would hopefully once and for all, end this pandemic that’s been affecting the world and displacing millions of people.
