Triumph Thruxton 400 officially launched overseas—is it coming to the Philippines?
It's a fine addition to Triumph's growing 400cc lineup.
The 400cc segment has become a sweet spot for riders in the Philippines. It’s the magic number for highway legality, yet still light and nimble enough for city traffic. It also strikes a balance between affordability and performance, making it a go-to choice for both new riders and veterans looking for a practical daily bike. Triumph entered this space with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, and both quickly found fans for delivering premium feel and solid performance in a manageable package.
Now there’s a new member in the mix: the Thruxton 400. Built on the same TR-series platform as its siblings, it trades their roadster and scrambler looks for a pure cafe racer aesthetic. A tight semi-fairing hugs the round headlamp, a pillion cowl cleans up the tail, and low clip-ons with bar-end mirrors give it that sporty, forward stance. The slimmer tail light makes the bike look longer and sleeker, and the riding position adds a dose of engagement without going overboard on aggressiveness.
The heart of the bike is the familiar 398cc single-cylinder engine that makes 42hp at 9000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed gearbox, ride-by-wire throttle, and a slip/assist clutch. Safety and convenience features like dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control come standard. Suspension is handled by 43mm upside-down forks with a bit more travel than the Speed 400, backed by a rear monoshock. It rolls on 17in alloy wheels with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tires, has a low 795mm seat height, and weighs 183kg with fluids—making it approachable and easy to maneuver.
If and when it lands in the Philippines, it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect pricing to be close to the Scrambler 400X’s P339,000 tag, perhaps just a touch higher. That would keep it in the sweet spot for riders looking for a stylish, highway-legal machine without jumping to midsize prices.
If the Thruxton 400 joins Triumph’s local lineup, it could easily become the most eye-catching bike in its class. Want to see what’s already here? Check out the complete range of Triumph motorcycles in the Philippines right now on MotoDeal.
