BSA launches new Bantam 350 in the global market
It slots below the Gold Star 650 in BSA’s street-focused, retro-inspired lineup.
After decades in hibernation, BSA is officially back—and yes, it’s now available in the Philippines. Best known for its British-built classics from the mid-20th century, BSA has been revived under India’s Mahindra Group, the same company behind the resurrection of Jawa and Yezdi.
BSA’s comeback started with the Gold Star 650, a retro-inspired roadster with a big single-cylinder engine and timeless styling. It’s already on sale locally through BSA Motorcycles Philippines, and now the brand is adding a second model: the Bantam 350.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. The original BSA Bantam was a two-stroke commuter bike that helped rebuild postwar Britain. This modern reboot carries that same spirit but with far better engineering and performance. More importantly, it’s aimed directly at the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, which has gained popularity here as a stylish, beginner-friendly roadster.
On paper, the Bantam 350 has the edge. It’s powered by a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine making 29 hp and 29.6 Nm of torque, compared to the Hunter’s 20.2 hp and 27 Nm from an air-cooled engine. The BSA also gets a 6-speed gearbox, telescopic front forks, and twin rear shocks, along with ABS-equipped disc brakes front and rear.
It weighs 185 kg, has a manageable 800 mm seat height, and comes with a 13-liter fuel tank. Style-wise, it fits right in with the neo-retro crowd—complete with bar-end mirrors, a round LED headlight, and subtle café racer touches.
The BSA Bantam 350 hasn’t been officially priced in the Philippines yet, but based on UK pricing, it could land somewhere around close to the P200,000 mark, putting it squarely in Hunter territory. With two bikes now in its global lineup and a growing local presence, BSA is clearly serious about taking on Royal Enfield in the small-to-mid displacement retro segment.
