Yamaha launches the 2023 NMAX with new colors in Malaysia
The well-loved maxi-scooter is looking sporty in its bright red colorway.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM), the Malaysian branch of Yamaha Motor Corporation, has recently launched a new version of its famous scooter, the Yamaha NMAX, for 2023. The updated model is now available in a range of new color options. The Yamaha NMAX has become popular in Asia—particularly in Malaysia and the Philippines—due to its reliability, user-friendly features, and practicality.
Starting March 16, 2023, Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) began offering the Yamaha NMAX scooter in two new colors, Red and Blue, for a price of RM9,798 (approximately P119,000). While the scooter's design remains the same, its modern and stylish appearance still exudes an urban and sporty vibe. Moreover, the scooter's front and rear LED lights provide excellent visibility in dimly-lit areas. The Yamaha NMAX also boasts ample storage space under the seat and front apron compartments, making it a practical choice for commuting in the city.

The Malaysian version of the Yamaha NMAX, just like the model we have locally, comes equipped with a liquid-cooled, Blue Core, SOHC engine that has a displacement of 155cc and a single cylinder. This engine is capable of producing 14.9 horsepower at 8,000rpm and 10 pound-feet of torque at 6,000rpm. It is noteworthy that this engine is also featured in other popular Yamaha models such as the XSR155, WR155, and YZF-R15. The NMAX, like most scooters in its class, employs a CVT automatic transmission to transmit the engine's power to the rear wheel.
The Yamaha NMAX has a fuel tank capacity of seven liters, which provides the advantage of extended intervals between refueling. This feature makes it an ideal vehicle for daily use, whether it be within the city or on longer journeys. Additionally, as an exclusive offering for the Malaysian market, the purchase of an NMAX includes a Yamaha disc lock at no extra cost. This security feature typically retails for RM100, which is equivalent to about P1,200.
Meanwhile, here in the Philippines, the Yamaha NMAX continues to be one of the best-selling maxi-scooters in the market. It brings modern tech features such as ABS and Bluetooth connectivity to the table, among other premium features. It retails for P150,000.
