2026 Kawasaki Versys 650 makes its global debut
Kawasaki has given the already capable touring bike some refinements.
Kawasaki has long been a pillar of the motorcycle world, with a legacy built on performance, innovation, and machines that riders actually want to use—on the track, in the city, and across long stretches of highway. From screaming superbikes to rugged dual-sports, Kawasaki knows how to create motorcycles that feel mechanical in the best possible way. And in a segment that often gets overshadowed by larger, more expensive adventure-tourers, the Versys 650 quietly holds its place as a workhorse that just gets it right.
Now for 2026, Kawasaki is giving the Versys 650 a mild refresh—but not in the way you’d expect. Instead of chasing new tech or squeezing more power from the engine, Kawasaki has decided to stick to what already works. The only changes this year are cosmetic, with new colorways in Blue, Red, and Green adding some visual flair to the lineup. Mechanically, it’s still the same reliable middleweight tourer that’s been trusted by commuters, weekend riders, and long-haul tourers alike.
Under the skin, you still get a 649cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin making 49kW and 61Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. It’s a setup that may sound modest on paper but proves its worth out on the road, delivering smooth acceleration and steady highway cruising. The chassis is also unchanged, using a steel frame with a 41mm USD fork and rear monoshock. It rolls on 17-inch wheels wrapped in road-biased tires, keeping the focus on asphalt performance.
What makes the Versys 650 matter in 2026 isn’t some groundbreaking feature. It’s the consistency. At a time when many bikes are being overengineered or priced out of reach, the Versys 650 sticks to the formula—comfortable, capable, and affordable. At present, the current Kawasaki Versys 650 is priced at P508,000 here in the Philippines.
