Would you like to see the Benelli TRK 251 in the Philippines?
Benelli enters the entry-level ADV segment in India.
Adventure bikes seem to be getting smaller and smaller. So much so, that it can be challenging to draw the line between dual-sports and small-capacity ADV bikes. Here in the Philippines, the entry-level adventure bike segment is dominated by the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure, and the Bristol Venturi 500. Now, what if we ventured into even smaller adventure bikes?
Well, clearly, this would pose quite the challenge, especially in the Philippines wherein bikes smaller than 400cc aren’t permitted entry into the expressways. It’s a shame, really, as there are some truly impressive lightweight adventure bikes in the international market—bikes that would certainly appeal to beginner riders and those on a budget. For instance, Benelli has just launched the 2022 TRK 251, the smaller sibling of the popular TRK 502, in India. This bike joins a crop of impressive small-displacement adventure bikes such as the Honda CB200X and KTM 250 Adventure.
The Benelli TRK 251 differentiates itself from its bigger sibling by way of minute changes to the bodywork, particularly with more rounded LED headlights. It also rolls on a smaller, road-focused 17-inch front wheel, as opposed to the TRK 502’s 19-inch wheel, hinting that this bike is more on-road focused. Apart from that, it also sports similar long-distance amenities such as a tall windscreen, cushy saddle, and wide front fairing for added wind protection.
In terms of performance, the Benelli TRK 251 is powered by a 250cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder motor pumping out a decent 25.6 horsepower. This engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. On the tech side, the TRK 251 misses out on fancy features. It gets a simple LCD instrument cluster, without any connectivity features. Overall, the Benelli TRK 251 sports a featherweight 164-kilogram dry weight, making for an agile machine on twisty roads. Benelli has yet to announce the pricing for the new adventure bike, however, it will certainly be offered at an attractive, entry-level price tag.
