Chinese manufacturer Voge unveils the new Voge DS 525X adventure bike
Does this rugged adventurer have a place on Philippine roads and trails?
Loncin, a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, has gained popularity in the European and Asian markets through its premium brand called Voge. Previously, Loncin's products were mainly sold in China and neighboring countries in Asia. But Voge's clever marketing strategies have allowed it to compete with other dominant Chinese players like CFMOTO and Benelli. Voge's latest models, the DS 525 and DS 525X, are expected to be available globally in the second half of 2023.
The DS 525 and DS 525X have the same adventure-touring platform, but the DS 525X has wire-spoke wheels for better off-road capability. Both bikes share similarities with the Honda CB500X, with the DS 500 featuring a 471cc parallel-twin engine that was almost identical to the Honda's. The engine has been improved by Loncin engineers and now has a larger 494cc displacement, producing 48 horsepower and 35 pound-feet of torque.
In addition to the improved engine, Voge provides high-quality suspension components for the DS 525 and DS 525X models. These include a fully adjustable KYB inverted front fork and a rear monoshock, also from KYB, that is fully adjustable. The DS 525X comes equipped with tubeless spoked wheels, while the DS 525 features aluminum wheels, both with a diameter of 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.
The DS 525 is also notable for its lightweight design. With a full fuel tank, it weighs only 198 kilograms, which is one kilogram less than the already lightweight Honda CB500X. When fitted with three aluminum cases, the bike weighs 216 kilograms. The DS 525 and DS 525X are currently available only in the Chinese market, but Voge is expected to release the updated adventure bikes in other markets by the second half of 2023. In China, the DS 525X has a retail price of 37,766 Yuan, or approximately P302,000. When equipped with luggage accessories, its retail price is 41,766 Yuan, or P333,800.
