Suzuki recently amazed the world by introducing its new range of medium-sized motorcycles, showcasing its resurgence on the global stage. With models like the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800DE, Suzuki appears to have undergone a remarkable transformation. In the middleweight naked bike category, the GSX-8S has established itself as a strong contender in both the U.S. and European markets. At the same time, the V-Strom aims to compete fiercely with the Yamaha Tenere 700, bringing its best performance to the table.

The new V-Strom has generated anticipation for its arrival in India, as it was recently observed undergoing testing in the country. Reliable sources from the region have indicated that this off-road capable middleweight adventure bike is scheduled to be launched in October 2023. Interestingly, it has been reported that Suzuki dealerships have already ceased receiving shipments of the V-Strom 650XT, which is another model based on an older platform.

In terms of performance, the V-Strom 800DE boasts a newly developed 776cc parallel-twin engine that is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected. With a 270-degree crankshaft configuration, this engine delivers a remarkable output of 83 horsepower and 53 pound-feet of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a six-speed manual gearbox. In terms of technological features, Suzuki has equipped the bike with various modern amenities such as a bidirectional quick shifter, traction control, and multiple riding modes. Additionally, the V-Strom comes with a vibrant full-color TFT display that provides a comprehensive range of information for the rider.

In terms of its mechanical foundation, the new V-Strom features a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, a departure from its predecessor's 19-17 wheel setup. This alteration enhances its off-road capabilities. Additionally, the bike is equipped with Showa suspension both at the front and rear, providing a comprehensive range of adjustability options that contribute to its overall off-road performance. With a generous ground clearance of 220 millimeters, the V-Strom inspires confidence when navigating various terrains. However, it's worth noting that the bike has a relatively tall seat height of 855 millimeters.

At the moment, the Suzuki V-Strom lineup in the Philippines consists of the 1050DE and 650XT, both extremely capable adventure-tourers in their own right. However, should the middleweight V-Strom 800DE make its way to Philippine shores, it’ll surely strike a chord among the adventure-enduro community, and prove to be a formidable rival against the likes of the Yamaha Tenere 700 and KTM 790 Adventure R.
