Kawasaki gives the Ninja ZX-10R some stealthy treatment for 2022
Black will never go out of style.
If you really give it some thought, it’s quite funny that the most common color people associate with the Kawasaki Ninja is lime green. A ninja, for all intents and purposes, is meant to be stealthy, undetectable, and nondescript. Surely, a bright green performance-oriented motorbike is the furthest thing from all those qualities. Nonetheless, the lime green motif has become synonymous with Kawasaki racing, so the colorway stuck, not just to the Ninja sportbikes, but to Kawi’s entire model range, too.
While this is all well and good, Kawasaki has shown us that it has developed a more adventurous taste when it comes to the color palettes of its models. Today, bikes like the Ninja 650 are available in a plethora of color options—from the classic green motif to stealth black colorways, and even an eye-catching turquoise finish. Likewise, for the 2022 model-year, Kawasaki has bestowed its flagship supersport, the Ninja ZX-10R, a stealthy makeover with a new, sleek colorway, certainly putting the ninja back into the Ninja.
The 2022 version of the Ninja ZX-10R sheds its Kawasaki Green KRT-inspired motif in favor of a sleeker, darker, Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray/ Metallic Diablo Black colorway. Yes, it’s certainly a mouthful, but it’s also a feast for the eyes. The understated colorway definitely suits the Ninja ZX-10R, retaining its thoroughly sporty nature, but giving it an air of elegance and sophistication. The two tone black and gray color scheme highlights the bike’s sporty lines, while subtle racing-inspired graphics highlight the bike’s racing heritage.
Beneath the stealthy colorway, however, the ZX-10R remains unchanged. It continues to draw power from the fire-breathing 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine. With 203 horsepower on tap, the ZX-10R is arguably one of the fastest vehicles on the road. Keeping tabs on all this performance is a sophisticated suite of electronic rider aids governed by a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). Showa provides us with its top-of-the-line equipment when it comes to the suspension of the ZX-10R, with Balance Free technology in both front and rear suspension systems inspiring confidence with every turn.
