KTM Philippines holds the first leg of KTM Riders Academy-Street edition
KTM joined forces with RIDE ACADEMi to bring next-level skills to everyday riders.
Riding a motorcycle, let alone a big bike, requires a certain level of skill. One that’s very different from riding a commuter scooter or underbone motorcycles. KTM Philippines and RIDE ACADEMi recognize this, and as such, have teamed up to bring next-level riding skills to everyday riders. With KTM Philippines being one of the strongest European brands available in the local market, it saw the need to ensure its patrons are well-equipped with the skills, not only to handle the bikes themselves, but whatever the road has in store for them.
On January 27, 2023, KTM held its first ever Street Edition of the KTM Riders Academy. In partnership with RIDE ACADEMi, the course opened its doors to riders of all motorcycle brands to come and experience not only KTM machinery, but build their skills in low-speed maneuvers and technical riding. The course was hosted by RIDE ACADEMi instructors with extensive backgrounds in road riding, motorcycle racing, and motorcycle safety.
The day began with a theoretical review of motorcycle riding laws and regulations in the Philippines. Afterwards, participants geared up and were given the chance to take their bikes around the course for an assessment run. From there, the group was divided into advanced and beginner classes, with the beginner class focusing on basic motorcycle controls. Meanwhile, the advanced class went straight to work with technical motorcycle maneuvers.
Developing low-speed maneuvering skills was the name of the game for the entire session. Participants went through multiple rounds of figure-eights, tight u-turns, slalom courses, and a combination of it all. It was clear to see that instruction plays a major role in developing skills, as well as unlearning bad habits and misconceptions from the past. All riders who participated in the event were able to elevate their practical motorcycling skills, while at the same time improving on their theoretical know-how when it comes to technical low-speed street riding.
We’d like to extend our gratitude to KTM Philippines and RIDE ACADEMi for a fun, exciting, and enlightening experience last Saturday. Congratulations on the successful event, and we look forward to visiting future sessions of the KTM Riders Academy
