The KTM 390 Enduro R is KTM's entry point into the dual-sport segment — a road-legal, dirt-ready machine that draws its ergonomic and mechanical inspiration directly from the larger 690 Enduro R, but packages it into a lighter, more accessible middleweight form. Power comes from a 399 cc single-cylinder LC4c engine producing 45 hp and 39 Nm of torque, delivered through a six-speed gearbox. It's not a high-strung number, but for a bike that needs to be equally functional on a muddy trail and a provincial road, the power delivery is well-suited — linear, manageable, and with enough punch to keep things interesting. The chassis is a two-piece steel trellis construction with a bolt-on subframe, designed specifically for increased torsional rigidity and sharper chassis feedback across mixed terrain. A gravity die-cast swingarm with a side-offset shock mount frees up space for the exhaust routing and adds structural rigidity to the rear end.

Suspension is where the 390 Enduro R earns its off-road credibility. A 43 mm WP APEX open cartridge inverted fork up front offers 230mm of travel with 30-click adjustable compression and rebound, while the rear gets a WP APEX separate-piston shock with the same 230mm of travel and 20-click rebound adjustment — a proper off-road setup on a road-registered bike. Spoked 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels underscore the dirt-first intent, backed by a 285mm front disc with Bybre caliper and a 240 mm rear disc. The Bosch 10.3MB ABS system covers standard and off-road ABS modes, with a dedicated ABS-off button for riders who want full rear wheel freedom on loose terrain. A 4.2-inch bonded TFT display handles navigation, connectivity, ride mode selection, and USB-C charging duties, keeping the cockpit practical without overcomplicating it. With Street and Off-Road ride modes, adjustable levers and footpegs, a flat single-piece seat, and LED lighting borrowed from the 690 Enduro R, the 390 Enduro R is a well-rounded dual-sport that punches well above its displacement — and is backed by a four-year manufacturer's warranty.
