KTM 1390 Super Adventure R Overview

The KTM 1390 Super Adventure R is the most off-road-focused model in the 1390 Super Adventure lineup, built for riders who intend to go well beyond where the pavement ends. It shares the same 1350 cc LC8 V-twin engine as the rest of the range — 170 hp and 145 Nm of torque, with Camshift variable valve timing delivering a strong, broad powerband — but everything else about the R is tuned with dirt in mind. The suspension is where the distinction is clearest: rather than the semi-active WP setup found on the S variants, the R runs a WP XPLOR fork with 48mm inner tubes derived directly from KTM's off-road racing models, featuring split fork technology for improved off-road performance. At the rear, a fully adjustable PDS monoshock handles spring preload, rebound, and both high and low-speed compression damping. A standard WP steering damper further keeps things composed when the road turns rough.

The wheel and tire combination also show off-roading intent: a 90/90-21 front and 150/70-18 rear, both wrapped in Bridgestone AT 41 dual-sport tires chosen specifically for improved off-road handling and stability on loose terrain. The conventional six-speed manual gearbox with a slipper clutch keeps the rider fully engaged, and braking is handled by upgraded Brembo front master cylinders for sharper bite and better feel. Standard equipment covers traction control, cornering ABS, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control, a keyless system, and the same 8-inch portrait-mount TFT touchscreen found across the range. Front Radar, a Quickshifter+, Rally Mode, Hill Hold Control, and an Adaptive Brake Light are all available as options for those who want to build it out further.
