Kawasaki KLR650 Overview

The 2025 Kawasaki KLR 650 S carries on the lineage of Kawasaki’s famed dual-sport, offering adventure-ready performance wrapped in a more approachable package for shorter riders. At its core is a 652 cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine with a bore and stroke of 100 × 83 mm and a compression ratio of 9.8 : 1. Fuel-injected via a 40 mm throttle body, the engine produces approximately 40 hp at 6 000 rpm and 51.5 Nm of torque at 4 500 rpm, channeled through a 5-speed return gearbox and sealed chain drive.

The chassis blends ruggedness and comfort. A tubular semi-double cradle frame complements a 41 mm telescopic fork offering around 170 mm of travel and a Uni-Trak rear shock with about 177 mm of travel, both featuring adjustable rebound damping and preload. Braking is handled by a 300 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, both fitted with dual-piston calipers and backed by ABS for controlled stopping power.

Dimensions reveal a wheelbase of 1,515 mm, ground clearance of approximately 185 mm, and a seat height lowered to 815 mm—about 55 mm shorter than the standard model—while retaining a curb weight close to 209 kg with ABS. LED headlight, digital instrumentation, adjustable windscreen, rubber-mounted handlebars, and a comfortable urethane seat are all carried over from the full-size KLR, tuned for extended riding days.
