Yamaha updates the YZF-R15M in the Indian market
For 2023, the premium sportbike gets a full-color TFT display and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Yamaha YZF-R15M must be the best of all the small-displacement sportbikes on the local market in terms of being a little version of larger, more potent machines. The YZF-R15M has been on the market for a little over a year and has recently received an update for 2023 specific to the Indian market. It is primarily intended as a high-end sportbike that can be ridden around the city on a daily basis.
A full-color TFT display has been added to the revised YZF-R15M. Yamaha's Y-Connect smartphone app provides Bluetooth connectivity for the new display. Features like incoming call alerts, SMS and email notifications, and phone battery level are all added via the Bluetooth capability. Additionally, the smartphone app aids in monitoring fuel usage, offers advice on maintenance, and even serves as a reminder for where you last parked your bike.

The motorcycle's cockpit has been upgraded by Yamaha, and LED turn indicators have been added. The previous model's features have been carried over, including an LED taillight and a single LED headlight with dual LED DRLs in the middle. Moreover, the bodywork is the same and, especially when viewed from the front, mimics that of the YZF-R7, its bigger sister. Due to the swanky sportbike experience the cockpit offers, it can be easy to mistake it for a much bigger bike.
The Yamaha YZF-R15M is propelled by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine, which has a proven track record for performance. With rider modes that include track and street, traction control, and even a quick-shifter, the YZF-R15M takes this powerful powerplant and gives it a sporty twist. One of the most potent 150cc sportbikes on the market, the engine generates 18 horsepower at 10,000 revolutions per minute thanks to Yamaha's Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology.
Here in the Philippines, the Yamaha YZF-R15M has proven itself as a popular choice among commuters and enthusiasts alike. Even without the new updates such as the Bluetooth connectivity and TFT display, it’s already an impressive machine, and commands a premium price tag of P189,500. There’s no word just yet when the updated YZF-R15M will make its way to local shores.
