Yamaha releases its 2021 YZF-R3 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition
Meant to make you feel like Maverick Viñales on your commute.
Yamaha’s factory racing team may have had a challenging MotoGP season for 2020. However, they still remain as one of the more popular teams in the Grand Prix season. With race legends like Valentino Rossi, and Maverick Viñales under its helm, people would still aspire to be like them battling out on the track. Unfortunately, most of us don’t have the same skillset, training, and talent to be as quick as Viñales. Luckily, Yamaha can still at least make you feel like you’re as good as him with the 2021 R3 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition.
The limited-edition YZF-R3 MotoGP Edition is still powered by the same 321 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, that puts out 41 hp and 30 Nm of torque, seen in the standard YZF-R3. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox and comes standard with ABS. However, the YZF-R3 MotoGP edition features flowing bodywork and ergonomics inspired by Yamaha’s YZR-M1 Grand Prix race bike with Monster Energy-inspired colors and livery.
The R3 is revered for being a light and nimble bike tipping the scales at only 170 kgs and has an excellent fuel economy of 24 liters per km. This makes it an excellent lightweight sportbike you can use as a daily ride if traffic wasn't so bad. Thus, the R3 MotoGP edition would probably be one of the coolest daily commuters you can swing your leg over.
Yamaha officially announced that the YZF-R3 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition will start hitting showrooms sometime in September 2020. Given that we’re already heading towards the middle of the month, it shouldn’t be long before they start rolling into showrooms all around the world. It still keeps the same price as its 2020 model at $5,599 or roughly around P272,000. We still haven’t heard any official word from Yamaha Philippines as to if or when they’d be launching its new special edition sportbike. However, just as we always do, we’ll be sure to keep everyone posted for any more news updates on the Yamaha YZF-R3 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition.
