What do you think of the special edition Yamaha MT-09 SP?
It gets trick suspension and an exclusive color scheme.

Nearly a month ago, Yamaha dropped a bombshell when it introduced the new for 2021 MT-09. Featuring a power bump due to a slight increase in displacement, the updated Yamaha MT-09 also features revised styling, truly bringing the Dark Side of Japan tagline to life. A couple of weeks later, Yamaha dropped yet another bombshell when it introduced the new MT-07 — also featuring revised styling similar to that of its bigger sibling.
Now if you find the new MT-09 to be rather lacking in terms of performance and style, then you’re a pretty hard person to please. Regardless, Yamaha isn’t one to settle. In fact, Team Blue has just launched a special edition version of their naked triple dubbed the MT-09 SP. At first glance, this special edition model stands out because of its signature color scheme called Icon Performance. Designed in the likeness of the Yamaha R1M, the MT-09 SP absolutely screams performance.

However, aesthetics aren’t the only things that were updated for the MT-09 SP. It comes equipped with a few electronic updates such as cruise control. The special edition machine is also equipped with a premium inverted KYB front fork which features full rebound, preload, and compression adjustability. On top of that, it comes with a trick Öhlins rear shock that also features a full suite of adjustability. To top it all off, the Yamaha MT-09 SP gets an anodized brushed aluminum swing arm that makes it look super premium.
Of course, there isn’t any word as to when this special edition MT-09 SP will make it onto Philippine shores, let alone the sticker price once landed. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what Yamaha Philippines has in store for us next year. For reference, the outgoing Yamaha MT-09 which debuted in 2017, retails for P569,000.
