Suzuki's GSX-8T and GSX-8TT earn prestigious Red Dot Design award
They’re the very first Suzuki motorcycles to ever earn the honor.
Two of Suzuki’s street bikes just got massive accolades in the design world. The GSX-8T and GSX-8TT have both taken home a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026, making them the first Suzuki motorcycles ever to earn the distinction.
For context, the Red Dot Design Awards is one of the more prestigious competitions in the industry, held every year and drawing entries from across the globe. It covers four categories total, and judges weigh everything from innovation and functionality to ergonomics, durability, ecological compatibility, and even emotional resonance. Product Design is the flagship category, and it regularly features some of the more notable cars and motorcycles of any given year.
The jury praised both bikes for their ability to translate classic visual cues into what they described as a clearly structured, modern aesthetic. That's a pretty accurate read. Both the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT wear neo-retro styling that nods to some of Suzuki's more iconic machines from decades past, while still feeling current in terms of finish quality and onboard technology.
Under the skin, the two share the same 776 cc parallel-twin engine, and mechanically they're nearly identical. Where they split is in character and intent. The GSX-8T goes the naked route with a round headlight at the front and a more stripped-back appearance overall. The GSX-8TT adds a headlight cowl and belly pan for a sportier stance, though it still holds onto that retro sensibility rather than going full modern sport bike. Both bikes sit in a space where old-school aesthetic and new-school execution meet.
“We are honoured that the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT have received the prestigious Red Dot Award. Both models are neo-retro street bikes that appeal both the unique and attractive elements of Suzuki’s past iconic models, and modern performance. Designed to suit a wide range of riding situations, from everyday use to touring, they offer enjoyment to customers across diverse lifestyles. Suzuki upholds the corporate slogan of ‘By Your Side’ and will continue to make efforts to create products that satisfy our customers in both performance and design.”
