Suzuki Philippines launches the GSX-S1000 at P710K
Suzuki’s flagship liter-class naked bike is finally here.
Earlier this year, Suzuki updated its flagship naked sportbike, the GSX-S1000 in the globla market. The bike, many Suzuki aficionados believed, had long been overdue for a refresh, after not seeing any notable updates since it was first released in 2015. After all, though, Suzuki has long stood by its mantra of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, as it would turn out, even if the GSX-S1000 wasn’t broken per se, it was rapidly being left in the dust by its competitors, which had adopted new technology and premium features many years before the launch of the new GSX-S1000.
As such, Suzuki decided to refresh the GSX-S1000 early in 2021 by giving it a thorough styling makeover. We were delighted to see this capable naked sportbike finally dressed in modern-day apparel, complete with aggressive, stacked LED lights, muscular bodywork, and sharp, angular styling. Its aggressive, yet refined nature was further complemented by its cool blue and silver colorway—a motif that has clearly been inspired by Suzuki’s racing livery in MotoGP.
With a lot of hype surrounding the new GSX-S1000 in the global market, it was more than certain that this bike would make it to the local scene. As such, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, Suzuki Motorcycles Philippines officially launched the GSX-S1000 in the local market. When compared to its competition in the form of the Yamaha MT-10, Kawasaki Z H2, and Honda CB1000R, the new GSX-S1000 comes in at a bargain price of just P710,000.
For the 2022 model year, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 continues to draw power from a 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. With 150 horsepower on tap, it certainly isn’t the most powerful liter-class naked bike out there, especially in comparison with the premium naked bikes from European manufacturers. However, you can certainly be assured of Suzuki reliability and dependability, as well as the availability of spare parts and accessories of this machine.
The 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 finally comes outfitted with all the fancy electronic features you’d expect out of a premium naked bike. As such, performance-oriented electronics such as traction control and ABS now come as standard. Also, Euro 5 regulations have made this bike a lot more fuel efficient and cleaner to run, while keeping power and performance at relatively impressive figures. The 2022 GSX-S1000 joins the Hayabusa as part of Suzuki’s updated performance bike currently available in the local market. The SV650, the GSX-S750, and the GSX-R models have yet to be updated in the Philippine market.
