Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 expected to get more powerful engine, multiple riding modes
The new bike is potentially looking like a huge step up from its predecessor.

Royal Enfield has been very aggressive when it comes to releasing new models in recent years. In fact, the manufacturer has a good number of models already in the pipeline, one of which is the Himalayan 450, the successor to the massively popular Himalayan 411, a rugged adventure bike with killer looks to match. The Himalayan, in fact, has been so well-received that has gained the favor of both casual and die-hard off-roaders.
There are some new details about Royal Enfield's forthcoming ADV. The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 appears to have a lot more to offer than simply increased power. The new bike is said to include features that have never been seen before on a Royal Enfield motorcycle. Given the increased power and the addition of various premium electronic features, the new Himalayan 450 looks like it could shape up to be a strong rival of the KTM 390 Adventure, which currently sits at the top of the entry-level ADV segment.

According to reports, the new engine would have a capacity of roughly 450cc. While it's unclear whether this is a development of the existing 411cc engine or a whole new engine from the ground up, it's predicted to produce significantly more power and torque, with 40 horsepower and roughly 40 Nm of torque. The engine is also likely to be liquid-cooled and fuel-injected, implying that it is a completely new design. The Himalayan 450 will also have a new throttle-by-wire system and three riding modes: Road, Rain, and Off-Road. Other off-road-oriented features like switchable ABS and an assist slipper clutch will come in handy as well.
Because Royal Enfield has yet to issue an official statement, all of this material should be considered speculative. Given that the new bike, as well as all of its rumored characteristics, has been making waves in India, it's safe to say that when the new Royal Enfield Himalayan eventually enters the market, we'll be in for a real treat, especially for those looking to ball on a budget when it comes to off-road performance.
