Royal Enfield debuts new Meteor 650 at EICMA 2022
The Royal Enfield 650 Twins become triplets as a new 650cc cruiser joins the lineup at EICMA 2022.
EICMA 2022, Royal Enfield has been teasing a lot of new bikes leading up to the event, and it chose this year’s biggest motorcycle show to unveil its new Meteor 650, a new cruiser that will serve alongside the 650 Twins, and serve as the bigger brother to the Meteor 350.
Royal Enfield has been slowly showing its plans for its future lineup with a new 450 series Himalayan as well. The Meteor 650 has been teased for quite some time now, and now we get to see it in RE’s press images. On top of this, Royal Enfield has been going through a lot of new model launches leading up to EICMA with the brand’s 350cc lineup now in full force.
The “Super Meteor 650,” as Royal Enfield likes to call it, is powered by the same 648cc parallel twin found in the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. As such, power figures will be at 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque if the twins are anything to go by. The new “Super Meteor” will reportedly come with a different tune, in line with it being a cruiser.
Of course, Royal Enfield’s signature styling is on full display here, however, there are a few things that set this model apart like the full LED lighting, the upside-down front fork, the aluminum switchgear on the bars, and the cruiser styling.
As for its chassis, we get a 19-inch wheel in the front and a 16-inch wheel in the rear. Both are tubeless and are paired with a set of 320mm brake discs in the front and a 300mm unit in the rear, and the calipers are Bybre. Like most cruisers, the seat height is extremely accessible at just 740mm. The bike is quite weighty, however, at 241kg.
As for the variants, there will be two trims available: Standard and Tourer. Two color families were also introduced, Astral (three colors), Interstellar (two colors), and Celestial (two colors). Celestial will only be available for the Tourer variant.
What about trim levels and colors? At launch, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will come in two trim levels: Standard, and Tourer. It will also come in three color families: Astral (three colors), Interstellar (two colors), and Celestial (two colors). As you might expect, Celestial is the top-of-the-range, and will only be available for Tourer machines.
