Peugeot Motocycles releases first batch of XP400 adventure scooters
The local launch marks the first release of the new adventure scooter outside of Europe.
Peugeot Motocycles Philippines achieved a noteworthy moment in its presence within the country. The renowned French brand, operating under the Motostrada group, hosted a casual event to celebrate the introduction of their inaugural XP400 adventure scooters to the eager customer base. Peugeot's latest addition to the adventure-scooter segment is the XP400, which made its debut last year at EICMA 2022.
This model is designed to handle a wide range of terrains, boasting impressive features like high ground clearance and a robust 400cc single-cylinder engine generating a respectable 36.7 horsepower. Whether navigating through city streets, provincial roads, winding mountain paths, or trails, the XP400 proves to be a versatile two-wheeled companion. It rides on a 17-inch front wheel and a 15-inch rear wheel, offering ample height for most light trails. Additionally, the scooter's suspension provides 140 millimeters of front travel, ensuring a comfortable ride. Safety is also a priority, with twin disc brakes and a standard dual-channel ABS system to handle braking duties.
The XP400 appears to be ideally suited for riders in Southeast Asian markets, especially in the Philippines. It stands out as one of the models in its category that provides extensive access and convenience to both new and seasoned riders in the nation. It's important to note that the Philippines enforces a 400cc rule that restricts motorcycle access to expressways, and the XP400 surpasses this limit with its 400cc engine, making it a significant development for Peugeot Motocycles in the country.
Regarding the event's details, Motostrada, the distributor of the French brand in the Philippine market, has confirmed that the initial batch of 30 units has already arrived, and all of them are already reserved by eager customers. The group has also mentioned that there is presently a waiting list for potential customers to join, and it's anticipated that the second batch of scooters will likely arrive around December 2023, taking into account the transit time from France.
Peugeot Motocycles Philippines is excited to accept additional orders, and they've made it clear that the initial shipment of XP400s in the Philippines is not only significant for the local market but also for the entire ASEAN region. This release represents the first batch of bikes delivered to customers in the ASEAN region. Furthermore, it's a milestone as these are among the first activated units of this model outside of Europe.
