One of the first BMW F 900 R customs emerges online.
If you thought the BMW F 900 R wasn’t a custom friendly bike, think again.
It has only been a few weeks since BMW Motorrad Philippines launched its latest middleweight naked offering, the F 900 R. We had the occasion to have spent time with this middleweight naked and its sharp looks, angular lines, and aggressive stance makes it such a looker when you’re traveling down the expressway, or even around the city.
However, at a first glance of the BMW F 900 R, it would never even occur to you to try to turn the bike into a custom project. In general, bikes with a naked or streetfighter design are not exactly custom-friendly machines. With its aggressive lines and loads of tech inherent in the bike, tearing it apart to revamp its looks would be too big of a bite to chew. However, VTR Motorrad, the official distributor of BMW Motorrad in Switzerland has proved that if done tastefully and subtly, the F 900 R is capable of customization — and they did so with a custom work they dubbed as the F 900 R Nardo-Blue.
You would expect to see a smurfed out version of the aggressive middleweight naked, but instead, they made more subtle changes in places you’d have a hard time spotting without a keen eye. The bike is now finished mostly in matte black and grey tones with contrasting blue accents in the right places. All of the silver painted parts of the motorcycle have been painted into matte black components including the exhaust and passenger grab bars. The tail section was also reworked for a shorter custom tail-tidy kit to give it a cleaner and sportier aesthetic from the rear. The rest of the bike was left untouched, other than it’s aesthetic changes which allows you the bike to retain its factory warranty.
VTR Motorrad has just proved that with subtle and tasteful changes, a huge impact on its overall looks can be achieved, and with the F 900 R having a very attractive price starting at P655,000 for the Standard variant, their work would make people just want BMW’s latest aggressive middleweight naked even more.
