The new Suzuki Burgman Street brings more tech and a refreshed design
Unveiled in India, the all-new Burgman Street gets a comprehensive update.
Over in India, Suzuki just pulled the wraps off a refreshed version of one of the most popular scooters in the Philippine market. The updated Burgman Street has officially been revealed, and these are what’s new for Suzuki’s maxi-scooter.
Mechanically, the powertrain is carried over and mostly unchanged. The 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine returns, producing 8.34 hp at 6,500 rpm and 10.2 Nm at 5,250 rpm. Worth noting is that both peak power and torque now come in at slightly lower rpm compared to before, while horsepower is marginally lower than the outgoing model.
Most of the meaningful updates live in the design and feature departments. Visually, the new Burgman Street takes a cleaner, more restrained approach. The fairings are rounder and less busy, turn signals are more compact, and the headlight gets a sleeker treatment while keeping its recognizable shape. Suzuki also dropped the black trim around the front end, opting instead for contrasting body panels above the headlamp. Out back, the silhouette stays familiar, but the taillight has been redesigned into an inverted U shape, giving the rear a more modern feel.
The small windshield and open floorboard remain, which regulars of the model will appreciate.
On the tech side, the Burgman Street picks up a digital instrument cluster paired with smartphone connectivity, which is a welcome addition at this price point. There is also a smart key system, and the ignition now handles unlocking duties for both the seat and fuel-tank lid. The tank itself holds 5.5 liters.
In terms of size, the scooter trims down slightly. It now measures 1,860 mm long and 700 mm wide, making it a bit shorter and narrower than before. Height and ground clearance stay the same at 1,140 mm and 160 mm respectively, while seat height drops 5 mm to 775 mm. The 12-inch wheel setup continues, with a front disc and rear drum brake configuration.
