KTM has given its long-running LC4-powered middleweights a serious refresh for 2026, unveiling the new 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R. Both bikes have been staples in the brand’s lineup for years, known for their potent single-cylinder performance and versatile chassis setups, and now they’re sharper, smarter, and more feature-packed than ever.
At the heart of both models is the latest Euro 5+ compliant LC4 single-cylinder engine, now with a revised crankcase, clutch, stator cover, and oil system to improve performance and durability. Power delivery remains as punchy as ever, backed by KTM’s signature lightweight steel trellis frame that blends stiffness for handling with enough flex for rider comfort.
The electronics package has taken a big leap forward. Both bikes now come with cornering ABS and cornering MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control) as standard, along with a crisp 4.2-inch TFT display, redesigned switchgear, USB-C charging, and an LED headlight. The 690 Enduro R gets Dynamic Slip Adjust in Rally mode, allowing real-time traction control adjustment for mixed terrain, while the 690 SMC R offers customizable ride and ABS modes for everything from city streets to track use.
Suspension remains a highlight. The 690 Enduro R features fully adjustable WP XPLOR forks and rear shock tuned for off-road riding, with generous travel to handle rough trails. The 690 SMC R swaps in WP APEX suspension dialed for sharp, responsive handling on pavement, perfect for carving through twisty roads or supermoto-style riding.
The 2026 updates keep both models firmly rooted in their specialties—the Enduro R as a capable go-anywhere dual-sport, and the SMC R as a street-focused corner-carver—while adding modern tech and refinements that make them more adaptable for daily use.
If you’re in the market for a high-performance single that blends KTM’s racing DNA with everyday rideability, the 2026 KTM 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R deserve a spot on your shortlist.
