KTM unveils 2024 790 Adventure
Refinements to engine performance and suspension tuning make this middleweight ADV even better.
In 2017, the unveiling of the 790 Adventure reshaped the landscape of middleweight adventure bikes. It brought forth a rare combination: lightweight agility coupled with remarkable off-road capability. This model stood out amidst the limited options available at the time, challenging contenders like the Suzuki V-Strom 650 and BMW F 800 GS.
The 790 Adventure series sparked a lineage of middleweight adventure bikes that placed a premium on off-road prowess. Its legacy continued with the highly praised 890 Adventure R, a successor that garnered acclaim. Surprisingly, for the 2024 model-year, the 790 series reasserts its presence. Once thought to fade into history, it resurfaces as KTM's mid-market offering, forming a bridge between the 390 and 890 models. This revival aims to maintain familiar performance while undergoing enhancements promising improved rideability.
Engine-wise, the 799cc parallel-twin setup, now sourced from CFMoto, remains the cornerstone. However, it undergoes refinement for smoother performance and stricter emissions compliance. Notably, a 20% increase in rotating mass is introduced to bolster stability, alongside revamped throttle bodies and an upgraded Quickshifter+ system, promising livelier rides.
In the technology front, the 790 Adventure inherits premium features from its 890 Adventure R counterpart. This includes automatic ABS programming synchronized with Ride Modes, an enhanced clutch system, a larger airbox, and the integration of a 6D sensor for adaptive handling across various terrains. Refinements to the WP suspension and steel trellis frame are aimed at delivering enhanced comfort and heightened performance levels.
The 2024 790 Adventure takes customization to new heights, courtesy of the expansive KTM PowerParts catalog. Enthusiasts can delve into a plethora of options, ranging from functional enhancements like exhaust systems and engine protectors to adjustable levers. Additionally, the catalog offers a range of stylish additions such as reservoir covers, brackets, and slim mirrors, providing riders ample opportunities to personalize their adventure machine to match both their functional and aesthetic preferences.
