Husqvarna updates the Vitpilen and Svartpilen for 2024
A new frame, upgraded suspension, and a new engine are ready for a thrilling ride.
If you're a fan of Husqvarna's minimalist and retro styling, then we sure have some good news for you. The Pierer-owned brand has unveiled a range of motorcycles in the Svartpilen and Vitpilen families, going beyond mere cosmetic updates. For 2024, these bikes feature not only revised engines and chassis but also tech and styling enhancements, with standard LED lighting throughout.
Given Husqvarna's global presence, it's essential to note that not every model is available in every market. The 2024 lineup includes the Vitpilen 125, Svartpilen 125, Svartpilen 250, Vitpilen 401, and Svartpilen 401. Availability may vary based on your location.
The Svartpilen 125 and Vitpilen 125 are both equipped with a 125cc single-cylinder engine, producing a claimed 15 horsepower and complying with A1 licensing for European riders. Noteworthy features include WP suspension, ByBre brakes, and Bosch cornering ABS. The Svartpilen 125 sports 17-inch spoked wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber, while the Vitpilen 125 opts for 17-inch cast wheels with Michelin Power 6 rubber.
Stepping up, the Svartpilen 250 boasts a 249cc single-cylinder engine with 31 claimed horsepower, a new chassis, aluminum swingarm, and a 5-inch LCD display. It also features WP suspension, ByBre brakes, and Bosch ABS. Unique to the Svartpilen 250 are cast aluminum triple clamps. Rolling on 17-inch cast wheels, it offers a modern riding experience.
The Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401, powered by a 399cc single-cylinder engine with 45 claimed horsepower, showcase a new steel trellis frame and aluminum swingarm. These models come equipped with adjustable WP suspension, ByBre brakes, Bosch cornering ABS, cornering traction control, ride modes, and Husqvarna Easy Shift technology for clutchless shifting. The 5-inch TFT display enhances the overall riding experience.
Stylistically, the 2024 models embrace a bold, modern design language. Kiska, responsible for the design, intensified the unapologetically modernist DNA of the Svartpilen and Vitpilen. The large and eye-catching decals, proudly displaying "VITPILEN" and "401," add a distinctive touch to the tanks. However, as with any design evolution, opinions may vary, and the enlarged decals might be a matter of personal preference. While I appreciate the font choices, others may feel differently about the visual balance due to their size. Ultimately, the 2024 Husqvarna lineup offers a blend of performance upgrades and striking design elements, catering to diverse preferences in the motorcycle community.
