Honda teases its first full-size electric motorcycle
The Honda EV Fun Concept could pave the way for the next generation of electric naked sportbikes.
Honda has built its reputation on making motorcycles that connect with riders of every kind. From the world-changing Super Cub to the Fireblade superbikes that redefined performance, the company has consistently balanced accessibility with innovation. It’s the brand that introduced millions of people to two wheels, while also pushing engineering boundaries with racing machines. So when Honda shows off a new direction, the rest of the industry takes notice.
That’s exactly what’s happening with the EV Fun Concept. First unveiled at EICMA 2024, this is Honda’s first full-size electric sport bike. At a glance it looks like a mid-sized naked, something in the range of a CB650R, but its technology makes it far more significant. Honda is opting for a fixed battery pack combined with CCS2 DC fast charging—the same standard you’ll find at most electric car chargers. This means riders can tap into existing infrastructure rather than hunting for bike-specific setups. Charging times haven’t been confirmed, but Honda says it will be quick enough to make daily commuting and longer rides practical. The expected range of more than 193km puts it right in the ballpark of what many riders actually need day-to-day.
In recent weeks, Honda has been teasing production-ready prototypes on European roads, wearing camouflage but clearly close to final form. A more formal update is slated for September 16, likely setting the stage for a full debut later this year at EICMA 2025. These teasers suggest that Honda isn’t just experimenting—it’s preparing to bring this bike to market soon.
Up until now, electric motorcycles have often felt like niche products, either too expensive, too slow to charge, or too compromised in range. Honda’s track record of building approachable, durable, and rider-friendly machines could change that perception. If the EV Fun carries the same DNA as the brand’s gas models, it could be the first electric bike that really feels like a Honda: dependable, engaging, and easy to live with.
