The Harley Davidson Super Glide returns for a limited run of 2,500 units
The revival celebrates the 1971 FX Super Glide and 250 years of America.
Leave it to Harley-Davidson to mark America's 250th birthday by dusting off one of its most storied nameplates. The Motor Company has officially brought back the Super Glide for 2026, and it's doing so the right way, draped in the same red, white, and blue colorway that made the original 1971 model an instant piece of American motorcycling history. Only 2,500 will be made, so let's get into why that matters.
The Super Glide holds a pretty significant place in the Harley-Davidson timeline. It was the brand's first factory custom, and the credit goes to Willie G. Davidson, who got the idea after watching home-built choppers roll through Los Angeles in the late '60s. Before the FX Super Glide came along in '71, riders who wanted that stripped-down look had to do the work modifying their bikes themselves. It’s more than an American-themed bike, it’s a homage to Willie G. Davidson and the custom bike culture in Southern California.
For 2026, the Super Glide rides on Harley's Softail chassis and pulls its motivation from the 1,923cc Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic V-Twin, good for 98 horsepower and 163 Nm of torque. The vintage aesthetic is well-preserved here. Up front you get a dual-bending 49mm fork and a 19-inch spoked wheel, while the rear runs a 16-incher. True to form, the monoshock rear suspension is tucked out of sight beneath the seat, keeping the classic hardtail look alive without actually being one.
Despite the vintage looks, this isn't a museum piece. Harley equipped the Super Glide with a full modern safety suite, including front and rear disc brakes, cornering and straight-line ABS, traction control, drag torque slip control, and tire pressure monitoring. Three selectable ride modes, Road, Sport, and Rain, give riders flexibility depending on conditions. Lighting across the board is LED, with a 5.75-inch headlamp up front and combination-style units out back. The instrument cluster pairs an analog speedometer with a multi-function display, and there's a USB-C port on board for charging.
Apart from the resurrected Super Glide, Harley also announced the Road Glide Liberty Edition, which becomes the fourth entry in the 2026 Liberty Edition Enthusiast Collection alongside the Street Glide, Street Glide 3 Limited, and Heritage Classic Liberty Edition models.
Pricing in the US starts at 15,999 USD before taxes, which is around P982,000 give or take. With production capped at 2,500 units globally, the odds of the 2026 Super Glide making it to other markets outside of America is quite slim.
