Ducati unveils the all-new Hypermotard 698 Mono
The Hypermotard 698 Mono ushers in a new era for Ducati, marking the only single-cylinder engine in its current lineup.
On November 2, 2023, Ducati unveiled the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono and 698 Mono RVE, introducing supermotard excitement for a wide range of riders. These bikes are powered by Ducati's new Superquadro Mono single-cylinder engine, boasting a 659cc displacement, Desmodromic valve timing, and impressive performance figures. Interestingly, this engine marks Ducati’s first and only single-cylinder engine in its current lineup.
The engine delivers 77.5 horsepower at 9,750 rpm and 46.5 pound-feet of torque at 8,000 rpm. By adding a track-only Termignoni exhaust, you can push it even further to 85 horsepower at 9,500 rpm. This new single-cylinder motor is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox featuring a slipper clutch and a standard Ducati up and down quickshifter. Notably, the first gear is exceptionally long, making corner conquering a breeze.
The bike's chassis is built on a tubular steel trellis frame, supported by a 45mm Marzocchi aluminum front fork and a Sachs monoshock with full adjustability in the rear. Brembo handles the braking duties with a front caliper and a 330mm aluminum flange brake disc designed specifically for the Hypermotard 698 Mono family. Both front and rear are equipped with Bosch cornering ABS. Rolling on Y-shaped, five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, the bike offers a smooth ride with 8.5 inches of wheel travel up front and 9.4 inches in the rear.
Electronics play a significant role in this bike's performance, featuring a 3.8-inch LCD screen displaying gear shift and rev limiter indicators. The 2024 Hypermotard 698 Mono family provides four ride modes (Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet) and four levels of ABS, including a Slide By Brake function for cornering fun. Additionally, it offers four levels of wheelie control.
The dimensions of this bike include a 56.8-inch wheelbase, a 26.1-degree rake, and a 4.2-inch trail. The seat height is 904mm but can be lowered to 889mm with an optional low seat accessory.
Ducati goes beyond dry weight this time, listing a "Wet weight no fuel" of 151 kilograms. Considering gasoline's weight, this brings the full curb weight to approximately 351 pounds. With a three-gallon fuel tank, the bike promises a thrilling ride for all enthusiasts.
