Check out the new Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme
Upgraded suspension and taller ground clearance make this a more off-road capable machine.
In 2019, Yamaha made waves with the introduction of the Tenere 700. Fast forward to 2023, and the T7 still holds its ground, although some newer European competitors have surpassed it in terms of performance and tech. Yamaha is determined to maintain its lead with the Tenere 700 Extreme.
The Tenere 700 Extreme caters to off-road enthusiasts, especially those with motocross and enduro experience. This new variant outperforms the standard T7 and even the T7 World Raid with its impressive off-road capabilities. To give you some context, the Tenere 700 Extreme boasts 20mm more suspension travel both front and rear, and its 43mm front forks feature a slick Kashima coating for reduced friction and enhanced durability.
However, it's worth noting that this extreme version may not suit everyone, especially shorter riders, given its lofty seat height, which is the highest among all T7 iterations. For comparison, the seat height stands at 35.8 inches (910mm), and the ground clearance is an impressive 10.2 inches (260mm).
The Tenere 700 Extreme continues to rely on Yamaha's acclaimed CP2 engine, a 689cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected parallel-twin powerplant with a crossplane (270-degree) crankshaft. Some exclusive features include large titanium footpegs with 35% more surface area, an aluminum radiator protector, and a flat one-piece rally saddle. The bike also sports a tall enduro front fender for that rally-inspired aesthetic.
Yamaha has decked out the Tenere 700 Extreme with a rally-ready instrument cluster. This vertical five-inch full-color TFT display offers three different themes, including a Rally Raid-style display complete with navigation. Additionally, a trip switch is conveniently located on the left-side switch cluster.
As for pricing and availability, Yamaha has yet to disclose the pricing, but it's confirmed for the European market in 2024. It will be available in Yamaha's iconic Icon Blue colorway. While there's no official word on its availability in the Philippines, if it does make its way here, expect it to come at a slightly higher price than the standard T7's P669,000 price tag.
