CFMoto demonstrates the power of the V4 SR-RR with 315.82 km/h run
With less displacement and less power, CFMoto's prototype still found a way to out-run the competition.
CFMoto isn't messing around with the V4 SR-RR. The Chinese manufacturer turned heads at EICMA in Milan back in November when it rolled out a near-production prototype of the bike, and now it's back in the headlines after clocking some serious speed during testing. Riders Du Bang and Huang Shzhao took the prototype around the eight km oval at the Shanrao Automotive Proving Ground in Jiangxi Province, and GPS tracking pegged the run at 315.82 km/h. That’s a number that should make plenty of established superbike builders sit up and pay attention.
A quick caveat though: these are still test units, not homologated production bikes, so it's not entirely fair to stack them directly against finished rivals. That said, if CFMoto can carry this performance over to the production model, the V4 SR-RR would land itself right in the conversation among the world's fastest liter bikes, at least where top speed bragging rights are concerned.
CFMoto clearly wanted to hammer the point home too. The company put together its own comparison, pitting the V4 SR-RR against the Ducati Panigale V4 and Aprilia RSV4 Factory. The numbers are telling: CFMoto's prototype runs a 997cc V4 making 212 hp and it hit that 315.82 km/h mark. Ducati's Panigale V4 carries a larger 1,103cc V4 producing 216 hp, yet its electronically limited top speed sits around 299 km/h. The Aprilia, meanwhile, brings a 1,099cc V4 good for 220 hp and a claimed 305 km/h. Smaller engine, less power, faster top speed.
As for CFMoto's claim, the company says the run was GPS-verified and backed it up with photo and video evidence. Again, this was a prototype doing the running, not the finished product buyers will eventually get their hands on.
There's still no official word on a launch date for the V4 SR-RR. Given that the bike only made its public debut at EICMA last fall, that's not entirely surprising. But the buzz around this machine is real, and with numbers like these already on the board, expect to see more of the CFMoto V4 SR-RR in the coming months.
