BMW F 450 GS brings adventure tech to the lightweight class
The all-new F 450 GS packs big-bike features, serious off-road ability, and a surprising amount of refinement into a compact 48hp package
BMW has finally pulled the wraps off the F 450 GS, its newest and smallest member of the GS adventure family. Unveiled at EICMA 2025, the F 450 GS promises to give riders the same premium experience and long-haul confidence as its big siblings, just in a lighter, more approachable package. And for anyone who’s ever thought the GS line was out of reach, this one might just be the sweet spot.
Powering the F 450 GS is an all-new 420cc parallel-twin engine making 48hp and 43Nm of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed gearbox and BMW’s clever Easy Ride Clutch system, which lets you start and stop without even touching the lever. That means less fatigue in traffic and smoother off-road control—perfect for riders who like to tackle both urban streets and gravel trails on weekends.
Underneath, there’s a new tubular steel frame designed for rigidity and agility, paired with KYB suspension on both ends. The 43mm upside-down fork and central rear shock each deliver 180mm of travel, giving the bike genuine off-road chops. Brembo brakes and BMW’s ABS Pro system come standard, keeping things in check even when cornering hard or riding over loose terrain.
The F 450 GS also comes loaded with modern electronics. You get multiple ride modes—Rain, Road, and Enduro—as well as Dynamic Traction Control and Engine Drag Torque Control for better confidence in all conditions. The Trophy variant even adds an Enduro Pro mode that disables rear ABS and wheelie control for full off-road freedom.
From a comfort and tech standpoint, it’s classic BMW. Heated grips, a USB-C port, and a bright 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity are all standard. The riding position is upright and natural, while the adjustable seat and handlebar setup make it easy to tailor to different riders.
With its mix of premium build, user-friendly performance, and true GS heritage, the F 450 GS feels like a masterclass in downsizing without compromise. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed yet, but expect it to land near the P500,000–P600,000 range once it makes its way to our shores.
