The all-new Lambretta J200 has arrived in the Philippines; prices start at P265,000
The latest Lambretta scooter takes inspiration from the 1960s J-Series while adding modern features and equipment.
Lambretta has expanded its scooter lineup in the Philippines with the launch of the J200, a modern-classic model that blends the Italian brand’s retro design cues with contemporary features and technology.
The J200 is offered in two variants locally. The Sport is priced at P265,000 and comes with black exterior trim, while the Premium carries a P275,000 price tag and gets variant-exclusive matte silver accents.
Design-wise, the J200 takes its cues from Lambretta’s J-Series scooters from the mid to late 1960s. The overall shape stays true to the classic scooter formula, but the bodywork has been given a more contemporary treatment. According to Lambretta Global CEO Walter Scheffrahn, the design team looked to the beach for inspiration, incorporating styling elements influenced by surfboards and the movement of waves.
Power comes from a 174.5cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Lambretta lists output at 16.5hp and 15.5Nm of torque, giving the J200 enough performance for everyday urban riding while retaining the convenience expected from an automatic scooter.
The chassis is equipped with a double arm-link front suspension setup, along with preload-adjustable shock absorbers at both ends. Braking is handled by a dual-channel ABS system, while 12-inch alloy wheels are fitted with 110/70 R12 tires up front and 120/70 R12 rubber at the rear.
Despite its compact proportions, the J200 also gets a nine-liter fuel tank. Practicality is further supported by under-seat storage with enough room for a half-face helmet.
Technology is another area where the J200 moves beyond its classic-inspired styling. The scooter comes with a TFT instrument display with smartphone connectivity, while USB Type-A and Type-C ports are positioned inside the legshield compartment. A smart keyless system is also included, along with a synthetic leather seat that complements the scooter’s modern-classic character.
With its combination of retro-inspired styling, a relatively potent 175cc-class engine, and modern equipment, the J200 gives Lambretta another entry into the increasingly diverse premium scooter market in the Philippines.
