2026 Ducati DesertX V2 gets new 890cc V2 engine and sharper off-road focus

Ducati has launched the 2026 DesertX V2, refining its middleweight adventure bike with a new engine and sharper off-road focus.

The biggest change is the switch from the old 937cc Testastretta to Ducati’s new 890cc V2. Output stands at 110 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Ducati says 70 percent of torque is available as low as 3,000 rpm, giving it stronger low-end response than before. Service intervals are set at 28,000 miles for valve checks, which is notably longer than the first DesertX.

Compared to the original DesertX, displacement is slightly down, but power delivery is broader and more adaptable thanks to Intake Variable Timing. Lower gears are shorter for technical riding, while sixth gear is taller for relaxed highway cruising.

Chassis hardware remains serious. The aluminum monocoque frame uses the engine as a stressed member. Fully adjustable KYB suspension delivers 230 mm of travel up front and 220 mm at the rear. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel setup stays, paired with Brembo brakes and dual 305 mm front discs.

Electronics are comprehensive. A six-axis IMU manages cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, and engine brake control. Six ride modes include Enduro and Rally, with off-road ABS adjustment. A 5-inch TFT display features a Rally layout for dirt-focused riding.

Ducati claims a dry weight of 461 pounds without fuel, keeping it competitive in the segment.

In short, the DesertX V2 builds on the original by delivering a more flexible engine, improved gearing, and refined off-road ergonomics, while keeping the core formula intact.
