Why do motorcyclists ride long distances just for a quick breakfast?
It’s all part of the lifestyle.
Motorcycling is quite possibly one of the most awesome things in the world. Not only does it allow us to explore the world around us, it also opens doors to new friends and connections, as well as enables us to learn new skills both on and off the saddle. That said, many motorcyclists like to spend as much time as they possibly can aboard their beloved steeds. In fact, we often find ourselves traveling some seemingly illogically long distances for a simple breakfast or cup of coffee.
While those of you who are diehard motorcycle aficionados would understand exactly why we do this, our friends who are new to the two-wheeled lifestyle, or those who are curious to know just what it’s like to be a motorcyclist, may not yet have a solid idea of what’s in store for them. That said, allow us to break down for you just why we love riding simply for the sake of riding.
To take in the scenery
It doesn’t really matter where you’re going, really. It may be out for a simple breakfast run to Burgos Circle in BGC, or maybe you’re headed out of town for brunch in Tagaytay—the scenery is just so much better when you’re on two wheels. Being on a motorcycle is just so much more engaging. So much so, that it’s unlike any other mode of transportation.
Riding a motorcycle allows you to take in the scenery on a whole different level. The way the city gradually transforms into a rural setting, as well as the constantly changing coastline, are all factors that make riding a motorcycle so much more special.
The synergy between man and machine
Of course, a major part of the experience is becoming one with your motorcycle. Just like the previous point, it doesn’t really matter what you ride, as long as you enjoy what you’re riding, it simply makes the whole experience so much more meaningful. Riding a motorcycle is a very raw, visceral experience, which requires your complete focus and attention. As such, it enables you to feel even the smallest movement of your machine, making it feel like it’s an extension of your body.
The excitement
Another big part of motorcycling is, of course, the thrill and raw excitement it imparts on us. This rings especially true if you ride a big bike, or a performance-oriented machine. Everything from the sound, to the acceleration, as well as the way the motorcycle holds a line on a corner, makes everything so much more engaging and exciting.
A treat for the senses
Riding a motorcycle is truly a feast for the senses. All five senses are engaged when riding a motorcycle. The safety of your ride is dependent on your sight, as well as your touch via your inputs on the bike’s controls. Your sense of hearing is also stimulated with the sound of your engine, vehicles around you, as well as the changing scenery. You take in the smells of the world around you—from the smog in the densely populated city, to the unmistakable aroma of fresh air in the countryside. Of course, the sense of taste as a fitting denouement as you enjoy your well-deserved breakfast after riding hundreds of kilometers.
